My work is firmly rooted in my fashion background, and I would like to show my Inky Faces Series – ‘Fashion Tribes through the Ages’ – which has recently featured in Suboart Magazine. They are created with coloured inks on watercolour paper and I currently have about 30 pieces. I have created imaginary fashion characters influenced by an amalgamation of fashion tribes through the ages from Elizabethan nobility to Jazz Age Sirens through to Seventies Punks and Eighties New Romantics. I enjoy working with ink for it’s unpredictability which enables me to describe forms in a loose and fluid way, the characters emerging from the watery chaos almost spontaneously.
